A Lunch is working together on a proposal to reduce to one lunch shift and allow juniors and seniors who are academically eligible to leave for lunch.

Any comments, questions, or suggestions for them?

Some people in B lunch are working on getting microwaves in the cafeteria.

Does anyone know anyone who has one he/she would like to donate?

B lunch, I'd make a sign to hang in the teacher's lounge to see if any teachers have one to donate.

If not, we could spend some of our money and buy a couple used ones.

I honestly don't think we should do the microwaves thing. We've tried this 2 years in a row and it's failed both times. I don't think it'll pass this time either.

Bret said...

I'd also like to bring book bags back into the school. Maybe only give it to the kids who meet the standards set by the school on the PSAT. Just a thought.

Mackenzie M. said...

I definitely think we had some good arguments going on off campus lunch, but no matter what, I don't think that will ever get passed.

I think that microwaves is an excellent idea, even if we have to keep pushing for it.

I don't know about the PSAT=bookbags thing.. Why should people who do good on a test get to ignore a rule. And not everybody takes the PSAT, so it's not really fair that underclassman don't even have the opportunity. I think a lot of mothers would call about it if that happened. haha

Bret said...

I know a lot of kids want to get mrs. holliday off of the program that allows to watch everyones screen but i doubt that. throwing that out there

Bret said...

And to Kenzie, it's the same as why do people who do good on the test get to eat out once a friday?? it's trying to make the kids work harder and give them something to shoot for. I do understand how it's not fair to underclassmen, but maybe it's a perk that you can get by doing well on your ACT and being an upperclassmen. if mothers call about it not being fair to their kid because they're underclassmen then i don't know about society anymore lol jk

Ryan said...

I agree with Bret. It would definately be something that kids would shoot for and work harder to earn that privilage. I personally don't mind (being an under classman) because the upperclassmen have already gone through 3 or 4 years in high school... so why shouldn't they get privilages?

I know you guys are probably sick of hearing me say this but I REALLY want music in the halls!

Also, it would be easier for me to heat my lunches up in the cafeteria rather than Mrs. Brock's room so I think we should keep pusing for the microwaves in the cafeteria.

Neal said...

I think that we should still try to get the microwaves. They could encourage more people to bring their lunch which makes shorter lunch lines. So everyone is happier. Just keep trying to find those microwaves. It will work.

ali.carver said...

I think that we need microwaves in lunches because a lot of people don't like the schools lunch, and with microwaves people can bring sack lunches and heat them up,and i also agree with ashley with music in the hallways.

Shelby said...

i also like the idea about microwaves in the lunch room , but i think the lines to the microwaves would end up being longer than the regualr line . no offense school lunch isnt very good :)

Jessica Bartlett said...

Is any progress being made on the microwaves because I've talked to my friends and they think it's a good idea? Then they wouldn't have to ask teachers to use theirs.

Lindsey said...

I really like the idea of microwaves.. I know a lot of people go to Mrs.Brock's room to use her microwave but i don't really think that is fair.. Only certain people get to use them because they are friends with the teacher. I think we should get microwaves in the cafeteria so that it is fair for everyone.

Seth McCormick said...

i agree with bret. i dont c y we can't do that. although maybe not nessessarily the PSAT. maybe we can figure out someothr way to reward the students who DESERVE to hav backpacks. and the only reason i would disagree about the Juniors/Seniors leaving is tht there would b students that just wouldnt come back. and then they would have to b punishd. then there would also be the students tht r l8 returning to class. ppl would accumulate tardies.

Seth McCormick said...

Also (trying to get 2 posts), evn if we cnt bring our backpacks to CLASSROOMS, i dont c why ppl who hav PE 7th hour hav to fight their way to their lockers through the hoard of ppl scrambling 4 the front door. y cant they take their bookbags to their PE locker and hav them there? it isnt technically a classroom, its a lockeroom. it doesnt say we cant hav our bookbags in a lockeroom.

Ms. Selinger said...

Hey, guys. Good ideas.

Couple responses:
1) Mr. Lamkey's cool with the microwaves. We just have to get them. I assign the people of this committee to get a message to teachers asking if anyone has one to donate. If not, find the cheapest microwaves, new or used, you can, and SGA could maybe buy them.
2) I just called Mr. Lamkey to check in on music in the halls, and he said he's put in two calls and hasn't heard back from the company we got our phones from. He's going to try again today. He likes the idea.
3) I talked to Mr. Price, and he said there's no way anyone will be able to carry backpacks. He said that rule was initiated by the school board, and they don't seem to want to back down.

Ty Borski said...

I agree with the microwaves and with shelby the lines would be longer than the lunch line so we should have about 3 to 5.Plus have a limited time on the microwaves so that the lines don't get too long.

Kelsey said...

I like the microwave ideas. i also think we should try to get back ipods. Teachers could let them use them when they are done with a test so they dont have to sit around. it could be up to the teachers when students can liten to their ipods.

I also like the music in the halls. In middle school they said they were going to play music for the last min or 30 sec of the passing period so kids know how long they have till their next class. :)

Bret said...

kelsi said that she has microwaves so maybe we start getting them out.

Bret said...

music in the halls is a good idea...

we could reward students somehow by letting them pick out the music that's played?? just a thought. of course the music would have to be clean haha and no garbage!

so we all know that there are MAJOR issues with line cutting and there not being enough food at lunch, especially b lunch. so today a few people and i were talking, and we came up with a fantastic idea for a policy!! the idea is that each class has an id card with there class color. when you get to the cafeteria, if you are a senior you go straight to the line, and your card will be your class color so they'll know. we also thought it'd be good to enforce that everyone only gets one serving the first time through the line and then when EVERYONE has lunch, if you want a second serving have at it. we would obviously go in order of class. i think its a wonderful idea and would create less chaos in the lunch room :)

Zoey said...

i would also like to reinforce the idea of having sga id cards for sga days since so many people scream SGA and cut. just a thought :)

Bret said...

i like zoey's idea but the reason there's no food in b lunch is because kids steal food... no surprise so something should probably be done about that first.

Seth McCormick said...

i agree with bret. ppl do steal food. but attempting to solve it with zoey's solution about the ID cards wont work (no offense). If someone is in CACC then they wont have time to get their lunch and wait till every1 else has gone thru. also, if a senior doesnt get into the cafeteria on time, why should a freshman have to wait to get food. besides, organizing ID cards would be time consuming and cost money to do so

Seth McCormick said...

idk if we r still tlkn about the microwaves, but im still against it. let's face facts, we hav stupid ppl n our school tht i can totally c them putting styrofoam in the microwave. those microwaves r bound 2 b broken

Jessica Bartlett said...

i still think that microwaves at lunch are a good idea but i honestly don't see it happening, this year at least.
music in the halls sounds like it would be kinda cool but picking out a type of music that everyone likes would be hard.

Kelsey said...

i like the microwaves and the id cards idea

Mackenzie M. said...

Love music in the halls and love love microwaves.
I think the lunch thing is an issue, but if a freshman had to wait, AND wanted seconds, they would have no time to eat. It's unfair to do that because of age. Maybe it can be a reward in some way? idk how though, the lunch issue just seems too hard to work out.

Hana Thixton said...

i don't eat school lunch but we should have no seconds until everyone got food (works for middle school...just sayin'). We shouldn't do seniors first then juniors blah blah...it should stay that CACC kids go first then everyone else THEN seconds. As for the microwaves, it should be those who are academically eligible because they aren't dum-dums who would stick a tinfoil ball and microwave it (i think this was said before but idk).

rylie gines said...

What are we doing for Haiti again???

rylie gines said...

I think that we should reward the 1st hour class that raises the most money for Haiti with a pizza party or doughnuts...

Maddie R said...

i think that the microwaves are good but we need to figure out a foolproof way so that people wont bust them. if they're just sitting on a counter or something then anyone can go put the wrong stuff in them.

Maddie R said...

also with the backpacks. i'm not dissing on upperclassmen, but it's not fair that carrying a backpack would be based on a test that we don't even have the option of taking. maybe it could be based on GPA or grade average instead?

Kyle Lucca said...

I think that the pizza party for the class that raises the most money is a good idea. Not like a whole grade, but like the individual classroom gets judged. We did it for the door Christmas tree competition thing...

Kyle Lucca said...

I think honestly that the microwave thing is a good idea. It would broaden lunch choices, but we'd have to find a way to keep them clean. If someone's ravioli blows up in the microwave by accident and they have to clean it up it will take half of lunch...I say we raise money to somehow get a hold of three microwaves. Maybe have them donated? The bad thing is that the Seniors won't even get to use them long. :(

Abigail Peterson said...

I think that if you make a mess you should be forced to clean it up

Ashley Cantrall said...

i'm just saying that microwaves would help me out A LOT!! Because i have to find teachers that have the same lunch as me now that i switched lunches and it's just a hassle so microwaves in the cafeteria would be great for me.

Bret said...

idk if this goes here but the sooner we can get those cans ready the sooner we can start collecting money, just come to me whenever we're done or keep me posted thanks.

Bret said...

i didn't think the microwaves would actually work but they did so when are they going in and what do we have left to do?

Anonymous said...

i think that microwaves would be a great thing to add in the lunch room! i always want to bring things for lunch.. but have no way to heat them up! when are we getting them ? =)

Claire said...

I WANT MICROWAVES!!!!! please=)

Maddie R said...

does anyone have any microwaves or know where to get some?? if we don't have any it's kinda hard to put them in the caffeteria. don't they have that kind of stuff at habitat for humanity?

Blanco Mexicano said...

ok so i was walking down the hall the other day, and noticed like 3 kids with purses, and like another 4 (maybe less) students carrying bookbags, and it was inbetween 2 and 3 hour. i was just kind of wondering why do we have that rule if no one enforces it, I mean, i would love to carry a backpack.

Hana Thixton said...

i noticed that too with some students carrying their backpacks/purses during random hours...it's lame how that they get away with it when its a rule to not have them out of the lockers during school.

Bret said...

some students are carrying laptops so maybe that's what we're seeing... but i do agree that it should be fair to everyone, unless you have a laptop or something like that.

Mackenzie M. said...

I don't think it's fair at all that those people get to carry a bag for their laptops. They make see through bags that big, so I say it should be see through or nothing!

And to Hana, I could probably come up with plenty of people who are getting pretty good grades, and would still put foil in the microwaves. We will just have to have a teacher stand by them. There's tons of teachers that monitor the cafeteria anyway. In my lunch there's Mr. Price, Mrs. Sturdy, Mr. Lamkey, Mr. Gum.. PLENTY of people. At least one pair of those eyes can watch the microwaves.

And idk where to put where I helped somebody. But someone was being very disrespectful and mean and immature to a sub (I won't name names), but I just called them out and said that wasn't cool.. yeah. :P
