Ideas for purse and dress-up day appeals to principals

We have a group putting together an appeal to be allowed to carry purses at lunch and a group who will argue that we should be allowed to have Gender Bender day for spirit week and that students would be allowed to wear underwear outside of pants for Super Hero day. Any good arguments or support for arguments that they could include in their proposals?

with the underware over the pants thing i think is pretty much going to be impossible to get approved. we could always try and get like a dress code set in place, but theres always going to be the smart kid that bends it and quite frankly, theres a lot of kids in riverton that would do that and i know that mr price wont want to deal with it. i think that it would be funny if we got it to go through... but itll be hard:)

80's day used to be a big one... where did that go? maybe we should try to bring it back

it would work to carry purses at lunch but we definitely need to come up with something that works for everyone.... bookbags need to be brought back, it's stupid that we can't have them.

I really liked the idea of decade day where we could dress up like they did in our favorite decade.

I agree with Bret. I think that any type of bag should be allowed in the cafeteria. Especially since we aren't allowed to go to our lockers during lunch.

I also agree with Bret. We should do all bags including bookbags. I miss my bookbag :(

i like the idea of carrying purses at lunch. i personally would like it because then i can have money on me for like bake sales and such since i normally dont get to carry it!

i would love to have my purse with me during lunch because i would love to buy some bake goods! not having our purses/bookbags has literally killed the money raised for bake sales :/

i agree with hana. i never buy anything at bake sales because i don't bring my purse into school. i think if they allowed purses/bookbags a lot of girls would be happier and also the fundraisers would appreciate it.

I don't see why we couldnt' do elderly day. We thought it was a very creative idea and something much different then the things we've done in the past and completely apprpriate. Most people that i talked to were excited about it. Even most of the teachers wanted it.

i agree with zoey with the purses . i have money in my purse that i would love to get stuff at bake sales . however since we cant take them and people forget we have bakesales it is cutting off our sales. if we were able to go back to our locker right when were done eating that would be a different story but were not even aloud to do that. so i say lets fight to get purses at lunch.

I think it's unfair that some kids can carry around athletic draw-string bags in the halls and to class with them but girls can't carry their purses? Really?

I agree that we should be able to have our purses at lunch for money or personal reasons.

yeah i agree..guys have wallets in case they need money for the vending machines so girls should be able to carry their purses at lunch...or you should be allowed to go to your locker during lunch...

And one more thing.....if we do another spirit week we HAVE to do Nerd Day...every person i have talked to said Nerd Day is by far their favorite day...and the only one they like to dress up for....and why wasn't there a Class Color day...that was the biggest one in past years...the seniors get to wear their all-black

I think that no matter what spirit days we do it will always be the same kids dressing up. Only the people with at least some school spirit are really the only ones who get into it. This spirit week we didnt get to advertise very well tho, and in the future we will do better :)

okay, as far as spirit days go, how was senior day (elderly) deemed "inappropriate"?! WHERE in the handbook does anythng like that violate the rules? we get in trouble 4 pants 2 low, but pants too high is supposedly inappropriate 2? personally i thought tht it was ridiculous. and as far as teachers being offended, i never hear nerdy people being offended on nerd day. mayb i should be offended if they have a hoodie day so ppl come 2 school with a hoodie on. thats how ridiculous it sounds.

Purses at lunch - unnecessary. I think instead we should be allowed to go to our lockers. it has to be one or the other. Girls have needs.

Gender Bender - why not? I don't see what their argument would be for that anyway.

Underwear on the outside of your pants? - crotch stains = gross

One of my friends that goes to a different school did the gender bender.. I personally don't think it's a big deal. People can do it with out being innappropiate.

if we did the underwear on the outside of your pants thing we should have a requirement on what you have to wear underneath. like you must have pants\shorts or leggings past your fingertips. wearing leggings under underwear wouldn't be very different from what some girls wear now - a
t-shirt, no pants, and leggings...is that handbook appropriate?
